The Monad | Plug-In Dimmer Pendant (Matte Black)

A designer plug-in pendant you can hang yourself, no electrician required. The Monad in matte black drops a warm, focused pool of light and a clean modern silhouette into any room, and because it plugs straight into a power point, there is no wiring to run and no trades to book. Six metres of woven fabric cord and a built-in dimmer let you place it where you want it and set the mood to match. Backed by a 2-year warranty.

Statement Black, No Wiring Needed

The matte black powder-coat and fabric cord are the same premium hardware we use across our hardwired pendants, so it reads as a fitted piece rather than a stopgap. The difference is all in the install. Fix the two supplied swag hooks to the ceiling with the screws in the box, drape the six-metre cord over them to set your drop and take up the slack, then plug it in. It is a quick job with a screwdriver rather than a call-out, and you have a centred pendant over a table or a low, moody light in a corner in a few minutes. When you move, or the urge to rearrange strikes, it comes with you: back out two screws and go, with no wiring to undo.

Bare Bulb or Shade-Ready: Your Choice

The Monad comes two ways. The Bare Bulb version leaves the holder open, so a filament or decorative globe is on full display, the exposed-bulb, low-lit look that plays to the black finish. The Lampshade version has a threaded collar at the base of the holder, 41 mm across, that a lampshade screws straight onto, with no bracket or adaptor needed, so you can dress it with a shade in linen, paper or metal and change the character of the light entirely. Just choose a shade made for a 41 mm thread. The holder stands 69 mm tall either way. Same pendant, same cord and dimmer; the only difference is whether the bulb stands alone or wears a shade.

Set the Mood, Built In

The dimmer sits on the cord about two metres up from the plug, within easy reach, so you can lift the room to bright, useful light or wind it down to a soft, golden glow without getting up. Fit any dimmable E27 bulb, a 3-watt LED at minimum, and the whole feel of the space is yours to set from the cord itself.

The Monad is at home wherever you want a fitted look without the fitting. Over a dining table it gives you a centred pendant with no ceiling point required; in a reading nook or beside the bed, draped from a wall hook, it throws a warm, glare-free light that keeps the side table clear. It suits living-room corners, home studios and hallways just as easily. In hospitality and retail the same freedom earns its place over café tables, in boutique window displays and styling corners, anywhere the lighting needs to look intentional but the wiring cannot move.
