The colour rendering index is a measure of how accurately a light source reproduces the colours of surfaces and objects compared with a reference light source. At the ultra-high end of the scale, colours that look flat or slightly shifted under a standard globe become vivid, accurate, and true to what the eye would see in natural daylight. Skin tones look natural rather than washed out. Food reads as genuinely appetising. Fabric, paint, and material samples show their actual colour rather than an approximation.

The Dulora ultra-high CRI range is split across two sub-ranges. The first is the standard-output range: candle bulbs at 2700K, GLS at 2700K, Edison ST64 at 2200K and 2700K, G95 and G125 globes at 2200K and 3000K, G80 globe at 2700K, tubular at 2700K, and the FlexBeam GU10 and MR16 adjustable spotlights at 2700K and 3000K. Each carries ultra-high colour accuracy at its stated temperature.

The second is the Sunset Dim series: twenty-one products across candle, GLS classic, fancy round, Edison ST64, G95 globe, G125 globe, and GU10 and MR16 spotlight forms. Sunset Dim products dim automatically from 2700K at full brightness to 1800K as the dimmer is lowered, shifting the room's warmth and character without a separate switch or smart control. All Sunset Dim products carry ultra-high colour accuracy.

Buying Guide

What does ultra-high colour accuracy actually mean

Standard LED bulbs render most colours adequately but soften or shift the most saturated and subtle tones. Under a standard globe, a deep red reads as slightly dulled, a cream fabric looks closer to yellow, and skin tones take on a flat or slightly grey cast. Ultra-high colour accuracy corrects this. Under an ultra-high CRI bulb, surfaces look closer to how they appear in natural daylight: reds stay vivid, creams stay true, and skin tones read as warm and natural rather than washed out. The improvement is most visible where colour fidelity is genuinely important, and less noticeable in low-light or purely decorative settings. Note that ultra-high colour accuracy is not the same as full-spectrum lighting, which involves a different aspect of light quality.

Where does ultra-high colour accuracy make the biggest difference?

The benefit is proportional to how much colour accuracy matters in the task or the space. In a kitchen, ultra-high CRI makes food and prep surfaces look genuinely appetising and allows accurate assessment of cooking colour and doneness. In a bathroom, it ensures skin tones, makeup, and hair colour appear as they do in natural light rather than under the flatter rendering of a standard globe. In a home office or design studio, it makes printed documents, screen colours, and physical samples match more reliably. For pendant or statement globe fittings in a living room or dining room, the improvement is more subtle but still visible on textiles, artworks, and skin tones across the table. The case for ultra-high CRI is strongest wherever colour is noticed, judged, or professionally relevant.

Which colour temperature should I choose?

The collection covers 2200K extra warm, 2700K warm white, and 3000K soft white across the standard-output range. At 2200K, the light is deep amber and filament-warm, suited to pendant and feature fittings where atmosphere and vintage character are part of the brief alongside colour rendering. At 2700K, the light has the warmth of a traditional incandescent but renders colours with a level of accuracy that incandescents could not achieve. At 3000K, the light is cleaner and slightly more neutral, which suits kitchens, bathrooms, and home offices where task clarity and colour accuracy both matter. The Sunset Dim series starts at 2700K at full brightness and automatically shifts toward 1800K as the dimmer drops, allowing a single fitting to transition from daytime task mode to evening atmosphere without switching bulbs or presets.

Are these products dimmable?

Yes. All products in this collection are dimmable on a compatible trailing-edge LED dimmer, including all Dulora-sold dimmers. The Sunset Dim series dims automatically from 2700K toward 1800K as the level is lowered; no additional programming is required. The FlexBeam GU10 and Sunset Dim GU10 run on standard 240V mains and dim on a trailing-edge wall circuit. The FlexBeam MR16 and Sunset Dim MR16 are 12V products and require a compatible low-voltage LED driver rather than a standard wall dimmer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ultra-High CRI Bulbs

  • What is the CRI rating of these bulbs
  • Products in this collection carry either CRI 95 or CRI 97; the specific rating for each product is listed in the specification table on its product page. CRI 97 products include the FlexBeam spotlights, Edison ST64, standard-output GLS, candle, G80 globe, G95 globe, G125 globe, and tubular bulbs; the Sunset Dim series and the Grand 125 and Grand 180 carry CRI 95. Ultra-high colour accuracy is not the same as full-spectrum lighting.
  • Is ultra-high colour accuracy the same as full-spectrum lighting
  • No. The colour rendering index measures how accurately a light source reproduces colours relative to a reference, while full-spectrum lighting refers to coverage of the entire visible spectrum. A bulb can have ultra-high colour accuracy without being full-spectrum, and the two are measured and valued differently.
  • What warranty applies to these products
  • Most products in this collection carry a three-year warranty, with some variants carrying a two-year warranty. The specific warranty period for each product is stated on its individual product page.
